Davao Jubilee Center

Davao Jubilee Center, is a charitable rehabilitation facility that focuses on providing rehabilitation and treatment services for disabled people around the city and all of Mindanao. This non-stock, non-profit organization is run by the Davao Jubilee Foundation, Inc., a group that works with disabled people in the Philippines and is a reputable long-time partner of Christoffel Blind Mission of Germany.

Every year this organization assists disabled persons who cannot afford treatment. They commit to providing services such as community-based rehabilitation, physical therapy, eye and ear screening, audiological testing, prostheses, orthoses, medical missions, and by offering a wide network of referrals. Their work has become especially important during the pandemic, as many differently-abled persons are unable to make regular trips to hospitals for fear of getting sick.

SOS Children’s Village Davao

SOS Children’s Villages have been around the country since 1967, and its Davao facility was established in 1981. Being a main chapter of SOS Children’s Village International, the organization’s main advocacy is strengthening families by providing them with the necessary assistance in order to properly raise their children.

SOS provides overall nutritional, educational, and health support. This is done through regular counselling for adults on important parenting skills that ensure their children’s welfare. The SOS Children’s Village runs a Social Center which administers essential medical treatment as well as training to the local population. There is also a daycare for kids whose parents need to attend training or go to work.

FARMCOOP

The Foundation for Agrarian Reform Cooperatives in Mindanao, known as FARMCOOP, is a Mindanao-based grassroots non-profit group that focuses on organizing and providing support services to farmers’ cooperatives. It has assisted thousands of farmers in over 40 cooperatives. FARMCOOP also offers help to associations of agrarian reform beneficiaries (CARP law) and local indigenous groups.

FARMCOOP offers a wide variety of services to cooperatives, namely consultations, entrepreneurial services, and even research and development for organic farming. Since its foundation in 1995, the organization has been assisting in the implementation of agrarian reform law, making sure that farm workers are properly compensated and enjoy an improved quality of life.

House of Hope Foundation for Kids with Cancer

The House of Hope is a non-stock, non profit organization that focuses on attending to the needs of children with cancer in Davao and around Mindanao. Having established the Davao Children’s Cancer Fund Inc (DCCFI) back in 2004, it has built programs such as Kids of Hope Program to aid young cancer patients with a holistic and child-centered way to deal with treatment.

Aside from providing training for their multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, and support staff, they also provide various forms of patient assistance, which include financial, medical, and psychosocial support. With their work, they bring better awareness to pediatric cancer, help patients gain easier access to different forms of treatment, and assist in the establishment of facilities for pediatric cancer research.
